Sunburn is horrible

Hello Guys, Well, I have had an interesting time since my birthday. I went to Bali on Thursday (when you were all doing that very difficult listening test) and checked into a very nice hotel in Legian. The place had a large restaurant and a bar where they had a live band every night. The room was comfortable, with a nice large bed, tv and dvd, and a great bathroom. After a fantastic night's sleep, I got up, refreshed, and had a lovely breakfast and a few cups of strong Bali coffee. I then grabbed my book and my hat and headed out to the beach. Now, I have never been much of a beach person because my skin burns very quickly, so I knew I would need some shade pretty soon if I were to enjoy my time on the beach. I found a man who rented sun beds under large parasols and hired one for three hours. I had never hired one of these before as they had always seemed like an unnecessary expense. This time, I was blown away, after ten minutes, lying in such comfort, watching the sea and the surfers I felt so stupid for not having used them before. I started reading my book (The Island of the Day Before by Umberto Eco - good but not as good as The Name of the Rose). After a couple of hours of reading in the shade, I started to feel as if my skin were tightening in that way all too familiar to those who get sun burnt. I couldn't believe it, I was in the shade. It turns out that the sun must have been reflecting off the sand and burning me slowly.

I have never been so badly burnt. It is now the following Wednesday and I still can't walk without considerable pain. I have a lesson in 45 minutes and I'm not sure whether I can teach it or not. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hopefully, the pain will go away soon.

The next time I post something, hopefully all will be well with the world and my legs.

Take care, guys.
